Full Send* Shinkansen! (*Full send is slang for "100% effort")

Shinkansens are fast...super fast. They travel at speeds of 240–320 km/h (150–200 mph). You can drink Sake in Osaka until almost 11pm and still arrive in Nagoya by midnight--not saying that I have :P

The ride is very smooth so it is easy to eat a Bento Box and drink a beer or 4. You can go many places. The network connects many location in Japan and currently has 2,764.6 km (1,717.8 mi) of lines. I can go

The staff are extremely polite and helpful. This is true in most places in Japan. I especially like the staff on the Shinkansen. Their backs must hurt from bowing so much! Nice uniforms!

Not all things are good. The tickets are quite expensive. You can buy a non-reserved ticket for cheaper, but you might need to stand. This can be a problem if you have many bags!

The regular trains in Japan are great too. They are quick, on time, and clean. The Japan Rail system makes it possible to get to most places in the country without a car.
